Tip: Updated way to remove the Blogger Navbar

It's been a while since we took a look at the Blogger navbar, mainly because we simply got in the habit of using CSS to remove it! It turns out that at some time in the past few months the Blogger engineers provided a simple way for everyone to remove that bar... but without any fanfare, most experts had no idea they'd changed anything.

While this is super-simple, for consistency, we're going to show you how to do it.

Step #1: Go to your Layouts page, click on "edit" in the navbar gadget

Step #2: Choose "off" in the popup window and hit save

All set!

  1. There is one important thing I learned about removing the nav bar. When you find that you are logged out of your blog you'll need a way to get back into your dashboard. I have a couple of solutions for that but the easier one is to download the Blogger App/extension for Chrome. That way you can quickly access the back end.

    Thanks!

    1. It's funny, I never think about that and just have it in my head to always start at Blogger.com... but that's probably because I manage a few dozen different sites on Blogger :)

    2. I have a few Blogger blogs that I manage also, and before I found the extensions, I would always keep the nav bar on one of my blogs so I could get access. It never really dawned on me to type in the url for blogger. lol

Btw - the "shortcuts for Google" extension for Chrome gives you quick access to every Google product. I use that one constantly throughout the day for accessing Webmaster tools and Analytics.
